108 Mile day, with the end in our sights, we struck up the day and ended with a mountain pass. Thankfully, we didnt have to try to beat our 5 1/2 minute flat record. We climbed a mountain pass, and are thankful that we can stop getting corn sugar slushies to satisfy. We entered Vermont today, and are looking foreword for a 80 mile day tomorrow!
By the time the McCarthys read this they will be giggling like school girls at their accomplishment. In fact they shall be laughing like Michele Bachmann and her Teaparty friends upon her signing the marriage vow pledge which included the suggestion that black children were better off during slavery because they were more likely to have been raised in a two-family (except, of course, when one or both parents were sold.) Yes, happy days are here again for the McCarthys.
ReplyDeleteNow, of course, it would appear that I will win the pool of $9 for guessing the closest to the winning time. I had three bets, 29, 31 and 35 days. No one else had below 36 days. They claim it will be 32.
However, I think I have to surrender the winnings to Ed Drouin. Ed guessed "Never." In good conscience I must surrender the money. Here's why? After nearly three weeks on the bike they claimed to have been in Hope. Well, we all know Hope is in Idaho and only 90 miles from Spokane. The next we heard they thought they were in Norway?? Finally, a few days ago we heard they were watching Harry Potter in Newark. Newark, as you know, is practically on the coast. BUT NO!! Then they were 250 miles from the coast. Which coast?? (I told them if they bought a map they could bill me and I would happily pay.) Now they say they will be landing in Johnstown?
JOHNSTOWN!! Who has ever heard of Johnstown. I wouldn't even guess as to which continent it is on. And why not Colintown, Iantown or Katetown?
Nope, the money is Ed's. My guess is that our wondering minstrels are someplace in Kansas. Maybe Wyoming. Soon they will tell the National Security advisors how many flats they have had. Soon thereafter Kate will announce to Hilary Clinton, our Secretary of State, the best road-find. You can tune your TV to your favorite news channel tomorrow at 11:00 Eastern Time for Barack Obamas announcement of the winners. Of course the winners will be invited to the White House for a meeting with the president and a full state dinner and reception.
My previous comment was supposed to go under yesterday's entry. But the sage continues. Yesterday, they told us that one more day would wrap it up. Now they say they have another 80-miles to go. The question is where they will end up after 80-miles? California, Mississippi? Deer Park?
ReplyDelete14 days ahead of schedule! Congrats.
