Day 26 AM Marine City, MI, across a river from Canada

Morning from a state park where rebel rousers were partying it up last PM. Music still on at 1 AM....nice. 2 tougher days with equipment failures and limited food at the right times.....Lots of calories consumed and timing the appetites of 2 teens can be tough. So today, will try different approach, not sure what exactly but likely with pool time and reframed expectations, less mosquitos and a new country! will see when the boys get up

  2. NO MORE LOLLYGAGGING. It has been 26 days. You have three days to reach the Atlantic. My first guess was 29 days and if you had a map and gone a normal route you probably would have made it. I don't want you letting the boys swim tomorrow. There can be plenty of swimming when you reach the %$#@ ocean. Get 'em up and on the road by 5:00 at the latest. Don't stop until you hit 150.

Of course I also guessed 31 and 35 days and one of these will likely be about right unless you insist on being fodder for mosquitoes for the entire summer. Teri guessed 36 and Barb, Bob and family guessed 37.

I hope you are keeping track of flat tires. Teri guessed 20, JP 16, Kathy 38. This are probably the closest. I had a 12 and ann a 11. I can't read Eamonn's guess.

  4. Hang in there!!!! I can hear the challenge setting in. You can do this. You can get to......... where you are going. I'd like to encourage you, but just keep going seems a bit infinite. Go to the ocean!!! You are getting close. The Appalachians are just relative bumps in the road.

My apologies for not posting for a while. Since returning from France, where they are having many more problems with injury and mechanical failure than you in the Tour de France, I have been busy working with President Obama's scheduling staff. They are more than willing to support an effort such as yours, but they are balking at trying to keep his schedule open for an arrival time and place that is variable by a number of weeks. He says he would commit to being there if you could narrow the arrival time and location to a season of the year and a state. Barak has been worried about you breaking a number of spokes and has consulted with his top military advisers. They in turn consulted convened a bipartisan working group and came up with the following suggestions:
    1) Stop riding dirt and gravel roads with road bikes.
    2) Consult a bike shop regarding your spoke problems.
    3) Stop having contests for jumping off curbs and riding wheelies.
    4) Eat more ice cream.

Regarding the sanity of doing this twice........well it takes one to know one.

Keep going you guys! This is so impressive.
