All right, we have been busy, after Fargo, it was Alexandria and the Lake Wobegone trail, stayed on the trail till the monsoon hit. At first it was fun riding through the thunder storm and deluge that soaked our shirts before we could even get our coats out. It became less fun as the temp dropped and our core temps followed suit. Fortunately, we came into the big town, grabbed the hotel, Colin of course flipped on the TV to show extreme weather coming thru.....well we had only been on the fringe. The following day, we continued on the trail, till it ran out and we took the northern branch to Milaca WI. Nice day, quit a little early and hung out at a city park by the river. Rested up a bit. Following morning we started out with limited map availability (we want to travel on the edge and the seemingly straight road that went for about a million miles started out as dirt; this was disconcerting for the boys and Kate but simply a challenge for me). Carl and Neil make a big deal of us being unfocused, mapless, and they wonder where we go.....we follow whims, we look for eastward stars, we migrate to the morning sun......
After Milaca, we did cross the Missippi and it was time for a bit of an adventure in camping so we headed 2 miles up a dirt road to a KNOWN campground (which we had to ourselves) and were near Stone Lake WI. There was miles of incredible damage from the SEVERE weather that had come thru when we saw our deluge. Floods first and now uprooted trees galore......I wonder if that would have been a tail wind coming thru?
Tonight, Woodruff, a shower and plans to potentially attack MI tomorrow PM. We might be able to visit our old friend HWY 2 shortly. Spirits good, health great, getting what was expected and the boys seeminly more than happy with the experience. Thanks all for checking in, we enjoy knowing that we are being followed. Colin will have all kinds of advice on how to do a trip like this. The boys can can advise if it has been worth your while.
