Day 16

We are insane. Today started out as a normal day, leaving Fargo, and crossing into Minnesota. We got lucky and found Greg, who helped founded the Lake Woebegone trail, and he showed us around. It was wonderful talking to him as he briefly shared some of his stories to us. Following this 100 mile trail, we started to see some storms off in the distance. We thought nothing of it until a few drops started to splash down. But this wasn't your small drop rain, this was fat drops, making their own puddle when they landed. The sky opened up, and we, taken by surprise by the quick change, were drenched. One hour later, we pulled into a hotel in Alexandria, giving up on the idea of camping, and stopped at 105 miles for the day. That leaves us at 1451 miles, with 104:46 hours on the bike

  1. hey there is a great bike shop in Alexandrea, right off the trail I wish I could remember the name. that is the town with the big viking statue right? the next town is were we had our tornado, well one of those towns on the trail! good memories, it was the town with the dairy bar, also just off the trail, check it out if you can. You guys are still crazy with the miles! next decision do you stay on the trail or take the branch going north. Well Colin you are calling the shots? right? Good luck you are doing great almost 1500miles! quite a feat! Hope it is getting cooler with the rain. love to all Barb

  2. I've been following you from the start and thinking you all are insane....thanks for confirming, Colin. At the least, you are nutty awesome! I can't believe the mileage you cover on a regular basis, and can I just say that the overall weather conditions sound SUCKY for a summer escapade! Kudos to you for staying strong! Super senior project, Colin. Great you are able to do this all together.
Love and hugs all around, (Aunt) Kate

  3. I certainly should know better than to ask but where in tarnations are you headed?? You seem too far south to go through Duluth. Are you thinking of going south of the Great Lakes? Catching the upper pennisula of Michigan? Somebody needs to take charge. And, of course there is only person along with common sense.
